We bring professional training and knowledge to residential design, offering a truly unique process of developing your dreams into a home.  As custom designers, we create unique designs for each individual client, enabling the client to receive a one of a kind home based on their specific requirements.

Custom process

Although all of our projects begin with an Initial Interview, followed by a formal Proposal, the similarities end there.  Based on the Scope of Services checklist and the Drawing Checklist included in each proposal, each project follows its own unique path through the design process to completion.  This custom process allows us to generate the drawings and details that are needed for construction, along with any other information that you feel is important to convey to the builder.  Whether you need a basic set of plans, or a fully detailed set is ultimately determined by you, although we will recommend what we feel would be best for your situation.

Licensed Architect   A licensed architect has the required training and experience to help you see the overall picture and help you make the right decisions regarding your new home.  As architects, we are trained to be problem solvers and can offer ideas and solutions that can transform your house into a home.  Through our professional experience and efficient design, we can help you maximize your dollar by reducing the cost of construction, reducing energy consumption and potentially increasing the future resale value of your home.  We can also streamline the construction process by assisting in the selection of qualified contractors and monitoring the conditions on job site (when selected).

Training and Experience   Becoming a licensed architect takes several years of formal education, resulting in a professional degree in architecture, either a Bachelors of Architecture or Masters of Architecture.  This is followed by a period of practical training or internship lasting several years, and is culminated by the passage of the Architectural Registration Exam, a nine section examination of practice acquired architectural knowledge.  Overall it takes approximately 10 years of education, training and testing to gain licensure to become an architect. 

Continuing Education   Once licensed, annual continuing education requirements must be met to maintain licensure and ensure knowledge of current building systems, methods and technologies.

Customized Services   At von Ahn Design, LLC the client is the key determinant into the level of service that they would like to receive.  We do not believe that there is one way to design nor is there one set of drawings that works for every project.  We are continually striving to develop new methods that are ideal for you, the client, and not the status quo of the marketplace.

Education   Our design and construction education did not come to an end when we received our license.  Throughout the year, we attend numerous professional seminars and trade shows, as well as visiting the latest neighborhoods and product facilities, to remain up to date on the current trends in design and construction materials.
